On 27 February 2025, MMC Infra Padi Sdn Bhd (MMC Infra Padi), a member of MMC Group, was honoured to host YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim for the launch of the Infrastructure Development Project to Support the Five-Season Paddy Planting Programme Over Two Years (Phase 1) at Kampung Pida 4, Ayer Hitam, Kedah.

The ceremony was attended by YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi Bin Md Nor, Menteri Besar of Kedah; YB Datuk Seri Muhammad Bin Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security; YB Tuan Haji Razali Bin Saad, Exco of Agriculture, Plantation and Consumer Affairs of Perlis; YBhg Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad; YBhg Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin, Board of Director of Padiberas Nasional Berhad, officials from the Federal and State Governments and more than 5,000 local community members.

The event also featured a variety of activities, including Jualan Rahmah, which provided essential daily goods at prices up to 30% below market rates; the sale of agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits from FAMA and the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA).

As part of the initiative, YBhg Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin presented RM30 million in Bantuan Khas Pesawah to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. This financial aid will be allocated to eligible rice farmers to help alleviate their financial burden.

Operating under a public-private partnership model, MMC Infra Padi will finance the development and maintenance of padi infrastructure in MADA areas, with reimbursement from the Government upon completion. This collaboration is expected to enhance infrastructure and irrigation systems, improve the quality of life for paddy farmers, boost the nation’s rice self-sufficiency, and support economic growth.
